About The Inclusion Exchange – Our Mission and Community

Building Inclusive Cultures Through Peer Connection

Our Origin Story

Born from lived experience.
Built to include everyone.

The Inclusion Hub Exchange began within the Fairness, Inclusion and Respect Committee of the Institution of Civil Engineers, sparked by the findings of the 2023 sexual harassment survey. The survey exposed, with painful clarity, the scale of the challenges faced by women across engineering and construction, challenges that could no longer be dismissed as isolated or industry‑specific.

What started as an internal response quickly grew into something bigger. It became clear that the issues raised were not confined to ICE members, nor to engineers alone. They reflected a wider cultural reality across the built environment, one where people were experiencing a range of challenges.

In response, we came together with a shared determination to create something new: a trusted, independent platform open to everyone across the sector. To create spaces where people feel safe sharing their experiences and contribute to meaningful, lasting cultural change.

Today, The Inclusion Hub Exchange stands as a collective commitment to listening, learning and improving working lives across the full breadth of the industry. A place built by the sector, for the sector, to ensure every voice is heard and every individual feels valued.
